FALMOUTH, MA — Falmouth Youth Baseball has placed a limit on the number of spectators allowed at games amid the coronavirus pandemic.
To comply with Gov. Charlie Baker's order reducing outdoor gatherings from 100 to 50 people, just one spectator per player will be allowed. Everyone in attendance will also be required to wear face coverings.
Youth baseball officials said the changes came following a complaint filed with the town last week from someone that drove by the fields.
"Although we were in compliance with the guidelines at that point in time, not all those outside of our baseball community are familiar with the regulations," a Falmouth Youth Baseball spokesperson said. "The FYB complex is owned by the Town of Falmouth, and we must comply with the regulations as set forth by the state. We need to remain vigilant and adhere with the revised rules."
Youth baseball officials said they regret having to reduce the number of spectators, but if the league doesn't comply with the new regulations, the program could be shut down.
