2 Chinchillas

I have 2 male chinchillas looking for a new home. They are brothers, just over a year old (19/05/21). Unfortunately one of my cats keeps trying to get into the cage to attack them, and after nearly a year the situation hasn’t gotten any better so we’ve made the decision to find the chinchillas a new home. They are very friendly, however we haven’t been able to get them out of the cage much due to the cat! But they will hop on your hands and shoulder when feeding or cleaning the cage. Chinchillas are a huge commitment, they live between 20 - 23 years, so this should be taken into consideration when deciding on them as a pet. They are also very delicate animals, sensitive to stress especially (hence our decision) so extra care must be taken when taking them home to make their transition as smooth as possible. They also can’t tolerate the heat, so with the summer coming up they will need to be somewhere they can be kept cool. Other than that they are pretty easy to care for, they have a daily sand bath, eat basic chinchilla food, hay and dried treats, and use a pumice stone to grind their teeth.
