Come celebrate Beltane! Learn about the history, enjoy traditional food, live music, and a ritual lead by Taylor of MoonGlow Botanicals.
Beltane is the Gaelic May Day festival marking the peak of spring and the beginning of summer. Still widely observed in Ireland, Scotland and the Isle of Man, join in the celebration here! One of the simpliest ways we celebrate is dressing in red and white, so grab anything red and/or white and put it on!
What to expect:
We will begin our celebration by briefly going over the history of this sabbat. Ways the old world would honor and celebrate, new world ways of celebrating, as well as the correspondances.
An old world way of celebrating was to listen to drumming or to play the drums. We will be having a live drum circle, with the traditonal nordic, celtic style of music being played while we partake in a small feast. Our feast will include traditional foods like bannock cakes, shortbread, fresh fruits and fresh greens. All representative of the culture and mother earth's frutation this time of year.
While we feast you will be walked through how to make your own May Bush. One will be yours to take home and the other we will burned as an offering to the Green Man who is honored and celebrated during this time. We burn our offerings to him in return he offers protection and prosperity towards our growth and projects we may be working on both physically and spiritually.
After our feast and making of the May Bush, we will be crowning our very own May Queen! The May Queen is honored along with the Green Man.
To close out our celebration, I will lead the group through a grounding and centering meditation followed by a personal cleansing and protection ritual.
