Visitors Not Allowed At Cape Cod Hospitals, Nursing Homes

FALMOUTH, MA — Cape Cod Healthcare has disallowed visitors at its hospitals and other health care facilities, with few exceptions, because of the spike in coronavirus cases across the region. The new restrictions are in effect at all Cape Cod Healthcare facilities including Cape Cod Hospital in Hyannis, Falmouth Hospital, the Clark Cancer Center and the JML nursing home in Falmouth. The restrictions went into place Monday and only allow for visitations in the following circumstances: End of life patients may have two visitorsWomen in labor may have one support person for the duration of their stay.Special cases will be made for children and patients with cognitive impairments, limited mobility or anxiety and phobias. Those people will be allowed one family member or caregiver to visit. In situations where exceptions are allowed, there will be times visitors will not be allowed to be with the patient such as during procedures. The visitor may be asked to wait outside the hospital or in a specified waiting area, where they will be contacted by phone when they can return. All visitors must be over 18 and will be screened for coronavirus symptoms and must wear a mask when at the facility. No visitors will be allowed for COVID-19 patients.
