Description

The Art of Paper: Batik in the making An ancient art, Batik, is a method of painting over wax, most often on ivory, glass, silk (and other textiles), wood and even metal. During Fiber Arts Omaha, on paper, we're using a batik-inspired technique, mix media, wax and heat to create a panel of crackled translucent beauty, full of color and texture. "Crazy" stitching is optional based on your creative tastes. Experiment! During this class we'll paint our design then apply our batiking process. No supplies or experience necessary. Participants will choose from a pre-designed rectangle or square of specialty Japanese paper. Or are welcome to draw their own designs in class. As this is a service. All sales are final. There are no refunds. Workshops are designed for ages 19 and older.
