FALMOUTH, MA — Sen. Susan Moran (D-Falmouth), has won re-election against Republican challenger James McMahon, according to unofficial results.
The race saw a rematch between Moran and Republican McMahon when the candidates faced off in a special election in May to replace Sen. Vinny deMacedo, R-Plymouth, who resigned to take a job at Bridgewater State University.

Moran, a former Falmouth Select Board member, won the special election earlier this year by about 2,500 votes. The election gave the candidate their first taste of the kinds of outcomes that could happen amid the coronavirus pandemic.
McMahon, an attorney from Buzzards Bay, appeared to have a lead in Plymouth on election night. But after mail-in votes were counted, Moran defeated McMahon in the district's biggest town.
