Join us on Sunday, May 1st at 11am for hike at the Wissahickon Valley Park and connect with some Latinx community members! We will meet by the Rittenhouse Town Trailhead at 11am before we embark on the orange trail. The hike will involve some light incline, a bathroom break at the midpoint and a smoother, low impact walk back with a steep but brief incline to bring us back to our starting point. The overall hike will take approx. 1hr to complete. More trail info below: Orange Trail: Average Grade: 11% Single track, natural surface (dirt and rock) trail that runs along the east side of the park. Terrain is varied, and sections of the trail are rugged and involve some incline. Forbidden Drive: Average Grade: 3% A wide, flat, multi-use gravel path that parallels the Wissahickon Creek for the entire length of the park At the end of our hike some light snacks will be provided! You will be sent an email with the specifics of the meet-up location, parking suggestions, what to wear/bring and a waiver you will need to complete the day before the event so check your email for updates. IMPORTANT INFORMATION PLEASE READ BEFORE REGISTERING: After registering, please look for a waiver to complete in your email (from Community Initiatives, not Latino Outdoors) and another email with more instructions on preparing for the event. You will receive both of these emails during the week before the event. If you cannot attend, please let us know as soon as possible by emailing [email protected] Please provide the age of every participant when registering and register each person individually with their names and age. This is required. About LO’s COVID-19 Guidelines After careful consideration and consultation with LO leaders about the resumption of in-person outings, we have implemented the following measures to allow us to safely gather in person while minimizing the risk of community spread: New policies and procedures 1. All attendees must maintain physical distancing. 2. Anyone who feels sick or has been exposed to someone with COVID-19 should stay home. In the case that someone begins displaying symptoms during an outing, they will be escorted back to their vehicle to go home and rest or separated from others until they can go home. As the pandemic evolves, so will our approach to keeping you safe. We thank you for your patience and flexibility as we manage this, and invite you to check in with us if you have any questions. What you can expect from LO To ensure the number of people present at in-person gatherings does not go beyond what is considered safe by local health guidelines To be given accurate and truthful information about LO outings in the context of COVID-19 Adherence to county level public health department guidelines What LO expects from participants We take safety at our community outings very seriously. We ask participants to self-certify that they do not have symptoms, have not been diagnosed with or had direct contact with a known or suspected COVID-19 case in the past 14 days, and will comply with LO’s safety policies and procedures.
