Description

Did someone say summer camp? Each week is centered around a theme and then we fill each day with fun, learning and community building. Campers will make art, do fun activities and explore the wild world of making. Sign up for as many weeks as you want! We can’t wait to see you and have the best summer. There will be a total of 10 kids per week with a teacher and an assistant at all times. This 5:1 ratio creates a very supportive environment. All materials are provided from Remainders’ vast array of repurposed materials. Campers will learn about eco-consciousness while expanding their creativity and have access to a huge variety of materials to create their wildest dreams. COVID vaccination or recent negative test results required for all campers and staff. We will be going to a nearby park for lunch and outdoor activity, so you will need to provide lunch and snacks for your kiddo. The summer program will conclude with a comprehensive art show where campers’ will receive recognition for their fantastic work. June 13 - 17 (Week 1) Famous Artists: Campers will be inspired by artists like Yayoi Kusama, Keith Haring, Picasso and Frida Kahlo! Everyday they will create drawings, collages and sculptures by exploring different mediums and genres of art. June 20 - 24 (Week 2) Tinkering: Campers will design, build, experiment and invent with different 3D materials every day. The tinkers will learn to creatively problem solve and think flexibly with their like minded camper collaborators. June 27 - July 1 (Week 3) Art Basix: Campers will receive in-depth teaching of art basics from drawing to collage, printmaking and painting. The projects will help them develop basic skills while also learning about artistic styles and experimentation. Fun for new artists looking to experiment and also those who have had previous art classes. July 5 - 8 (Week 4) Fiber Arts: Campers will learn about different fiber arts, textiles, fiber artists and art projects by weaving, embroidering, sewing, quilting and more. They will be inspired by artists like Shiela Hicks, Judith Scott, Nick Cave and Faith Ringgold. July 11 - 15 (Week 5) Zero Waste: Campers will learn about zero waste practices. The projects will focus on creative reuse and creating waste free alternatives in art practices and in the home. They will take away a collection of practical items to use in everyday life. July 18 - 22 (Week 6) Sculpture: Campers will learn and practice a variety of sculptural arts including recycled/found art sculpture, ceramic, wood and fiber sculpture. A variety of skills and techniques will be covered with collaborative exploration of ideas from all campers. Remainder Creative Reuse prides itself on openness, sustainability and community. We hope you and your kiddos would like to be a part of this! Sign up: www.remainderspas.org
