EASTON, MA—The Easton Council on Aging announced its new Friendly Caller Program on Tuesday as part of an initiative to help residents who are experiencing loneliness and social isolation. Those who sign up for the Friendly Caller Program will receive weekly, ongoing telephone calls from one of the Easton Council on Aging Volunteers. "Loneliness and social isolation are more prevalent than ever right now throughout the senior population, and we believe this program will provide support to those that need it most," said the Town of Easton in a program announcement. "Having regular, meaningful conversations can greatly lessen feelings of loneliness and isolation," it continues. The Friendly Caller Program will give senior citizens who are feeling lonely an opportunity to to share humor, stories, life experiences and discuss current events. Residents who have questions about the program or would like to enroll themselves or a loved one to receive calls should contact the Easton Council on Aging at 508-230-0690.
