You walked out of the parking garage, our eyes met, and we both swore we recognized each other. The moment was charged with electricity. I was working security, standing by the stage door of the Charleston Music Hall. You were dressed to the nines and wearing a cowrie shell necklace.
I asked where I knew you from, and you said you didn't know but agreed we must have met. I asked if you had been a student of mine, you said you didn't think so. We agreed we must have met in a past life. You introduced yourself as Lucky, though I feel I was the lucky one in our chance encounter.
We talked for 15 minutes as I was finishing my shift and parted ways as friends. You invited me for drinks, and I answered your question about me honestly but did not elaborate, though I'm not certain why.
I don't know why I'm writing this, and I doubt you will ever see it, but if you do, I would very much like to see you again. Even if only as a friend, I felt such a strong connection during our short conversation that I couldn't sleep tonight until I posted this.
I will remember you even if I never see you again. You rekindled something in me that I had forgotten existed, and even if that's all I ever know of you, I owe you a debt of gratitude.
Best Regards,
Joe the Security Guard
