Press release from TriCounty Area Chamber of Commerce: April 14, 2022 Dr. Marie Gwinn, Optometrist at Community Health & Dental Care Receives 2022 PA Young Optometrist of the Year Award Pottstown – Community Health & Dental Care, Inc. (CHDC) congratulates optometrist, Dr. Marie Gwinn for receiving the 2022 Young Optometrist of the Year Award at the Pennsylvania Optometric Association Spring Congress Awards event held on Friday, April 8th at the Lancaster Marriott in Lancaster, PA. The Young Optometrist of the Year Award recognizes an optometrist in practice less than ten years who demonstrates outstanding leadership skills when serving their profession, patients, and community. Nominees were evaluated according to a point system allocated to two principal areas: Public Service (worth 60%) and Service to Optometry (worth 40%). Dr. Gwinn joined the CHDC family in January 2022 as an experienced optometrist provider at the Coventry Mall location. In addition to general optometry, Dr. Gwinn is skilled in specialty care, including pediatrics, learning-related vision disorders, myopia management, specialty contact lenses, and medical optometry. Dr. Gwinn earned her Doctor of Optometry from Pennsylvania College of Optometry at Salus University in Elkins Park, PA and bachelor's degree from West Chester University in West Chester, PA with Major in Liberal Arts and Minor in Biology. Dr. Gwinn serves as Vice-President of the Chester-Delaware Optometric Society and is affiliated with the American Optometric Association, the American Academy of Optometry, among others. Passionate about community outreach and humanitarian work, Dr. Gwinn's experience also includes volunteer service providing vision screenings in Guatemala, rural Haitian villages, as well as locally in and around the Philadelphia area.
