CONNECTICUT — The holiday season is just getting going and already there have been nearly 5,000 calls for service by the Connecticut State Police since Friday, Dec. 20. Among those calls, State Police have responded to 337 accidents, 56 with injury including one fatality in Windham. They have also made 23 DUI arrests and issued 210 citations for speeding. "We issued 698 hazardous moving violations (to include: unsafe lane change, following too closely, move over, etc)," State Police said. The busiest travel of the holiday season will continue over the next several days and through Jan. 1. State Police urge motorists to follow traffic laws to prevent collisions and injuries. State Police will specifically be focusing on distracted driving and those who may be operating under the influence. And there is good news in that the weather will be pretty good through Jan. 1. Connecticut will see sun and temps in the mid 40s today, more sun on Christmas Day and temps around 40 degrees. More sun and temps around 40 is forecast for Thursday and currently there is a 40 percent chance of some rain and snow on Friday. Saturday looks fantastic with more sun and temps in the mid to upper 40s, but a rainstorm is possible on Sunday. And according to the Weather Channel, Connecticut can expect dry conditions on New Year's Eve and New Year's Day with temps around 40 degrees. All in all, not too bad as Sunday and Monday morning look like the only days where some precipitation is forecast. Connecticut may not see any snow until Jan. 5 and Jan. 7, according to the Weather Channel.
