Press release from Bryan4Us!2020: October 23, 2020 In an indication of who can best represent Milford and Orange on environmental issues, the CT Chapter of Sierra Club and CT League of Conservation Voters (CTLCV) have endorsed former Milford Alderman Bryan Neil Anderson as State Representative for the Milford-Orange 119th District over incumbent Rep. Kathy Kennedy. Their endorsements are highly-coveted and are difficult to obtain. Of significance, Kennedy, a freshman Republican, is a member of the Environment Committee. "The Connecticut League of Conservation Voters (CTLCV) has endorsed your candidacy for Connecticut House District 119. We are proud to support candidates like you who are committed to protecting Connecticut's environment and will make it a high priority at the state legislature. When the General Assembly convenes the 2021 legislative session, citizens of Connecticut will be depending on you for the environmental leadership that earned you CTLCV's endorsement. We will call on you to help us move important legislation or help stop anti-environment initiatives. Likewise, we trust that you will call on us whenever you need information to better understand specific issues impacting our land, air, water, wildlife and climate. Working together, we can leave a clean and protected state to future generations of Connecticut residents." In its endorsement Sierra Club stated, "I am pleased to inform you that Sierra Club Connecticut has endorsed your candidacy in the Connecticut 119th House District race in appreciation of your demonstrated commitment to protecting the environment. Sierra Club Connecticut's endorsement means a lot to our members in Connecticut and to the general voting public. For almost 50 years, Sierra Club CT has worked to protect our open spaces and wildlife. We are committed to moving beyond fossil fuels and promoting an equitable and just transition to a clean energy economy. In addition, we work to protect public health, ensure safe and healthy communities here in the state, and for racial, economic, and environmental justice for all people. Our endorsement sends a message of your strong support for these issues and your proven track record on environmental issues." Anderson, a Board member of the Milford Land Conservation Trust and Recycling Task Force member, said, "As a state, residents need relief from ever-increasing costs of energy production and distribution. There will continue to be environmental challenges tied to climate, and unless we make decisions to create successful sustainable programs such as wind, solar, migrogrids, and municipal options, costs will continue to rise. I will do more as State Representative for Milford and Orange to promote legacy farmland preservation, conservation, an expansion in the Bottle Bill, recycling programs, and adopt climate change curricula." Anderson appears on the Democratic, Independent and Working Families Party ballot positions. This press release was produced by Bryan4Us!2020. The views expressed here are the author's own.
