Learn to make linocuts and print them Have you been wanting to send some letters out, but haven’t had much time? Have you been wanting to keep in better touch with people? Do you like to buy and look at beautiful handmade cards? We have a fun solution for you. In Book Arts Collaborative we are a printing and book bindery, and we like to do workshops with the community throughout the months. One of those up-and-coming workshops is going to be a Lino cut workshop or those of all skill levels. Lino cutting is a form of relief printing, or raised image printing, that has been used for years. The way it works is there is a softer surface, which a design is put on to, and then special tools are used to cut away the parts that are not meant to be printed. Now this may sound complicated or difficult, but don’t worry, we will help you every step of the way. The objective of this class will be for our students to have predesigned cuts, ranging from easy to more complex, for those who attend to chose from. They will then be taught how to cut out the design by our students and get to see the printing process of their cuts printing onto postcards. The design theme will be based on nature, and the attendees will leave with 12 postcards of their own design and 12 mixed and matched designs from the other attendees. The price of the workshop will be $50, and it will be on April 30th from 1-6 at the Book Arts Collaborative shop in the MadJax building in downtown Muncie. We hope to see you there!
