Saw lost dog around N Beeline Hwy

I saw a lost dog on the Beeline 87. 1601 N Beeline Hwy, Scottsdale, AZ 85256. This is an address of a gas station- a Shell I think. On the other side of the street of this gas station, heading about 10 seconds away from the gas station-down the beeline 87 towards fountains- I saw a lost dog. Im trying to explain the area I saw the dog the best I can but I dont live in Phoenix, I live in Tucson. I was picking up my son and heading from his house, in Fountain hills, to Tucson. I took Shea to the 87 beeline and when I was passing the Shell: adress 1601 N Beeline Hwy, Scottsdale, AZ 85256 I saw a dog running on the right hand side of the beeline (which would be across the street from the shell). It was dark outside but the dog did appear to be black with possibly some white on the legs or body but could have been light reflection. There arent really any houses out there and the dog appeared lost. I would have, of course; stopped if it were not 11pm and if I wasnt in an unknown town with my 10 year old son. I hope someone stopped and grabbed the dog. Better yet I hope the owner of said dog sees this and goes out there and finds him/her.
