5th Annual Black Food & Wine Experience® Food, Wine, Cocktails, Music & Culture. 5TH ANNUAL BLACK FOOD & WINE EXPERIENCE® The Grand Tasting (OakStop, 2323 Broadway, campus-The Hive Oakland): June 18th, 2022 (6pm-10pm) Sample the food, wine and cocktails of the African Diaspora at The Black Food & Wine Experience's Grand Tasting in the heart of Oakland. Celebrate Black culture and excellence with your fellow foodies while tasting from celebrated and rising chefs and restaurants, winemakers and spirit purveyors at the Hive. The event will feature limited availability wines, barrel samples and culinary concepts with incomparable flavor not to mention live entertainment and activations. Situated in one of the Town's great urban pockets, the Uptown District, OakStop, the Hive is in the center of a beloved neighborhood. The quintessential gathering place for Oakland. Oakstop- The Hive is as much a state of mind as it is a place on a map – here crafters, entrepreneurs and urban dwellers create and interact in a variety of settings that invite inspiration. Dress up theme: classy, come to Slay with all Black, African Attire or vibrant colorful and your best sneakers to be comfy. **Grand Tasting, Post VIP party to follow: Location TBD (10pm-12am) Food & Beverage Industry Summit (OakStop, 2323 Broadway, campus-The Hive Oakland): June 16th, 2022 (5pm- 7pm) Reception to follow (7pm-8pm) Join The Black Food & Wine Experience® for its first industry summit aimed at supporting BIPOC (Black, Indigenous and people of color) Food & Beverage entrepreneurs to create the next generation of hospitality leaders through professional development. This industry educational event will feature keynote presentations and panel discussions to address topics ranging from building customer service, access to funding, and opportunities for recruitment. This year's theme is the resurrection of Black Wall Street post-Covid. Who comes back? What are available resources and opportunities? Who has access? How do we build moving forward? The program will include panel discussions by Ingrid Best owner of ibest wines. Julia Collins founder of Planetfwd. Jana and Chris Pastena owners of Chop bar & Calavera and many more. Reception to follow 7pm-8pm. Black Food & Wine Experience® Solidarity Dinner (Sobre Mesa Restaurant & Cocktail Bar) June 11th, 2022 (Two seating 5:30pm & 8:30pm) Top Chef’s alum, Chef Nelson & Chef Tu : Guests will be taken into a culinary coma with fiery foods from both worlds with a six course intimate dinner of Pan African & Vietnamese cuisine, paired with handspun culturally crafted cocktails provided by Patron. Black Food & Wine Experience®(VIP) Wine & Cocktail Dinner (Karibu Wine Tasting Room) June 15th, 2022 (6:00pm-8:30pm) Join Chef Mimi founder of Black Food & Wine Experience® and Founders Chris & Chad of Wachira wines and Karibu tasting room for a seated dinner.
