MIDDLETOWN, CT — Starbucks in Middletown is temporarily closed after an employee recently tested positive for the coronavirus, according to officials. The employee, along with those determined to have been in close contact with them, has been self-isolating at home, according to Starbucks spokesperson Jory Mendes. "As soon as we learned of the diagnosis, we quickly activated our protocols following all recommended guidelines from public health authorities, closing the store and initiating a deep clean," Mendes told Patch. The store, located at 871 Washington St., closed on Dec. 11, according to a post on Facebook. Mendes said the store remains closed due to staffing limitations and it is scheduled to reopen on Dec. 21. It will be staffed by employees who didn't work in close contact with the infected person, according to Mendes. Mendes also shared the company's "At a Glance" guide that includes information on the elevated cleaning and sanitizing protocols they've established along with what customers should know when visiting a Starbucks.
