Help Requested w/ Rehoming Birds - please read for details / DO NOT FLAG NOTE: Please read the entire post before replying or taking action, including flagging or reporting. Our household already has enough on our plate and I do not have the time, energy, or desire to deal with judgmental, reactive comments. This is NOT an ad for animal sales. Thank you. I am in dire need of neighbors able, willing, and ready to adopt birds into their household. You are warned that there will be descriptions of irresponsible breeding and pet parenting. Long story short, my housemate "K" has been breeding his birds, mainly canaries, despite working full-time with no remote options and having no experience as a breeder. His initial reason for breeding was to save space by housing multiple birds in a few cages, although he also laughed off my concerns over overpopulation by claiming he was breeding "just for curiosity/fun." Since last August, my other housemate "L" has been feeding and monitoring his breeding birds and their chicks while he is at work, and she has been showing signs of psychological burnout and physical exhaustion as a result. K had originally tasked me to list some of his fledglings for sale on craigslist; I will not publicly share K's planned floor price for his birds. He is unable to do so himself as he is neither fluent in English nor tech-literate, nor does he know anyone else who can help him besides me. To date I have NOT complied with his orders or advertised his birds for sale, as his planned animal sales ads would undoubtedly violate craigslist TOS on top of being unethical. I am only posting here to expand my search for suitable households willing to adopt my housemate's birds from him. I am highly concerned for my housemate L's wellbeing, as K is not likely to prevent his birds from breeding futher. All the same, I do not want K to hand his birds off to the highest bidder, since he does not seem to consider that his young birds may be abused, neglected, slaughtered, or exploited for breeding or other horrific purposes by his buyers. As far as I am aware, K has done absolutely no work in seeking alternatives to selling his fledglings on craigslist. It is my hope that reducing the number of birds in his ownership (to put it frankly) will give him less of a reason to house his birds together as a superficial space-saving measure. If you or anyone you know is looking to adopt birds, please email me for more details. It would be helpful if you speak Cantonese and/or Mandarin, as K may be more willing to cooperate with someone who speaks his language. Thank you kindly in advance for your time.
