MIDDLETOWN, CT — Moody Elementary School in Middletown will be switching to distance learning for two weeks after a staff member and two students tested positive for the coronavirus, officials announced on Sunday.
Superintendent of Schools Michael Conner said that based on the analysis of contact tracing, and in collaboration with the city health department, Moody School will operate remotely beginning Nov. 9 with students returning to in-person classes on Nov. 23.
Conner also said that Woodrow Wilson Middle School will operate remotely beginning Nov. 9 with students returning Nov. 16 due to the number of staff that are in quarantine.
Students at both schools should follow their regular schedules via the district's distance learning platform, according to Conner.
"Our top priority is to provide a safe and healthy learning environment for all students and staff," Conner wrote in a message to the school community. "Please take advantage of our weekly testing to mitigate the spread of the coronavirus."
The PCR Mobile Testing Lab will be at Lawrence School on Nov. 11 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., according to Conner.
"Please remember to wear a mask; maintain social distancing, wash your hands, and get tested," Conner said. "Your partnership is essential to keep Middletown safe and healthy."
