MIDDLETOWN, CT — Keigwin Middle School in Middletown is operating remotely until next week after a student tested positive for the coronavirus over the weekend, according to officials. The student who tested positive was asymptomatic, according to Superintendent of Schools Michael Conner. In a letter to families, Conner said the decision to have Keigwin operate remotely from Nov. 30 until Dec. 10 was made based on the analysis of the district's contact tracing protocols in collaboration with City Health Director Kevin Elak. Officials announced last week that Woodrow Wilson Middle School and Middletown High School would be operating remotely until Dec. 7. The elementary schools are operating on their standard schedules. "Please continue to wear your mask, social distance, and take advantage of free testing to mitigate community spread," Conner wrote in a message to the school community. "Together, we will defeat the COVID-19 pandemic."
