Middletown Postal Supervisor Pleads Guilty To Package Theft: Feds

MIDDLETOWN, CT — A 34-year-old former United States Postal Service supervisor in Middletown pleaded guilty Wednesday to stealing packages, announced U.S. Attorney John H. Durham, and Matthew Modafferi, Special Agent in Charge of the U.S. Postal Service, Office of Inspector General. Zoheb A. Deura, of Stratford waived his right to be indicted and pleaded guilty before U.S. District Judge Kari A. Dooley in Bridgeport. According to court documents and statements, between February and April of this year, Deura stole numerous packages, including packages containing an Apple computer, Sony PlayStation and Nintendo gaming devices, an Apple iPhone, footwear, and clothing items. Deura is scheduled to be sentenced on Jan. 13, 2021, at which time he faces a maximum of five years in prison. Prosecutors said Deura is released on bond pending sentencing. He no longer works for the U.S. Postal Service. This investigation is being conducted by the U.S. Postal Service Office of Inspector General, and the case is being prosecuted by Assistant U.S. Attorney Robert S. Ruff.
