MIDDLETOWN, CT — A garage was heavily damaged in a car fire Tuesday afternoon in Middletown, according to fire officials. Crews responded to the 100 block of Valley Drive around 4:45 p.m. on the report of a working care fire in a garage, according to officials. "First arriving units found a heavily involved garage fire threatening to extend into the residence," officials wrote in a post on the City of Middletown Professional Firefighters Local 1073 union's Facebook page. "Engine 2 attacked the garage and car fire, while Engine 1 took a second line inside to prevent fire spread into the main portion of the home. Engine 3 provided water supply and overhaul, while Truck 1 conducted ventilation operations over the fire to allow crews to work more easily inside. This controlled but aggressive fire attack prevented further spread beyond the garage. "Special thanks to our mutual aid partners South Fire District and Westfield Fire District for their assist at the scene." The cause of the fire is being investigated by the Fire Marshal's Office.
