Suspicious Death Investigation After Body Found Near Dam: Rockford PD

ROCKFORD, IL — Rockford Police said the death of a Wisconsin man found lying on the rocks near Fordham Dam last week is suspicious. Police from Altoona, Wis., where the man was from, are also investigating. Police were called to the dam on April 8 and found a man's body on the rocks, "submerged in the water," according to Rockford PD. The Winnebago County Coroner's Office "deemed it a suspicious death due to the type of injuries sustained," Rockford police said. Altoona Police said investigators "were led to a residence on St. Andrews Drive in the City of Altoona which prompted a large police presence in the area." Altoona Police Chief Kelly Bakken said there is no indication the public are in danger.
