Press release from the City of Las Vegas: April 12, 2022 Seeing orange in the Arts District? We bet you're wondering why. Over the next few years we will be transforming streets in the area into complete streets, making the Arts District an even better place to live, work and play. In 2011, we adopted the new Title 10 Unified Development Code which included Complete Street Standards. To support all of the local entities (Clark County, Boulder City, Henderson, Las Vegas, Mesquite and North Las Vegas), the Regional Transportation Commission of Southern Nevada (RTC) created a manual that can serve as a design guidance for the region. What is a complete street? "Complete streets are designed for people of all ages and physical abilities whether they walk, bicycle, ride transit or drive." As outlined in the manual, complete streets: Create safe and inviting placesConnect people through everyday interactionFoster a healthy and diverse business environmentStrengthen and enhance neighborhoodsEncourage active and healthy lifestyles Complete streets allow us to support mobility for all users. Improvements to streets will include: Wider sidewalksRoadway reconstructionLightingLandscapingPavement markingsADA compliant driveways and walkways Project Timeline Funding Sources The street projects will utilize a number of funding sources. In addition to city funds designated to road improvements, they will also be supported by funds from the RTC. Nine cents of every gallon of gasoline purchased in Clark County is used to fund roadway projects. This press release was produced by the City of Las Vegas.
