SF Shakespeare Festival's wildly popular summer drama program, Bay Area Shakespeare Camps (for ages 7-18), is back and better than ever! Los Altos sessions begin June 13 at Congregation Beth Am, 26790 Arastradero Rd, 94022This summer, campers will meet in newly defined age groups and explore revised and refreshed curriculum.--- Brand new middle school campA 3-week session designed specifically for rising 6th-8th graders, ages 11-13. Historically, 12 and 13 year old campers had to choose between Players Camp and Upstart Crows. Now, campers have a space of their own to explore with peers of their own age, working with a curriculum created specifically for this unique time of adolescence.--- 3-week sessions meet weekdays, 9am-3pn / Pre-care from 8:30-9 and aftercare 3-5:30 pm is included!Our 3-week model (that was adopted for last year's virtual camp) provides in-person campers with the time and space to delve deeper into Shakespeare’s work, play even more games, and develop into a strong ensemble. --- Reimagined games and activities Our Education Workgroup has been working since last year to revamp camp favorites and add new activities, reaffirming our mission of sharing Shakespeare’s work collaboratively, reflectively and through an anti-racist, community-minded lens. Experience welcome but not required to have fun with your friends while learning to understand and perform Shakespeare! - GROUNDLING CAMPERS (ages 7-10): perform their own 30-minute adaptation of Pyramus and Thisbe , the antic play-within-a-play from A Midsummer Night’s Dream. - PLAYERS CAMPERS (ages 11-13): perform their own 30-minute adaptation of The Tempest , a tale of magic and mayhem that explores the power of forgiveness and reunion. - UPSTART CROWS CAMPERS (ages 14-18): perform their own 45-minute interpretation of Shakespeare’s popular romantic comedy, Much Ado About Nothing - the same show that we’re staging for our 40th season of Free Shakespeare in the Park Visit web site or call 415-558-0888 for details!
