Here are the top three stories in Savannah today: Some parents within the Savannah Chatham County public school district have been given free public bus passes through a new program. The Leaping In the Future Together (LIFT) program is meant to provide children with transportation to schools outside of their district. The bus passes reportedly total roughly $2,000. (WTOC)Savannah's Higinio Perez-Bravo, 52, is facing a mandatory life sentence after pleading guilty to conspiring to kill a whistleblower who exposed an undocumented worker hiring scheme. The whistleblower blew the whistle on a multi-million-dollar scheme that hired and mistreated those living in the United States illegally. Perez-Bravo allegedly acted as the getaway driver during the murder of the whistleblower, Eliud Montoya. (WSAV-TV)The Savannah City Council has approved the purchase of a virtual reality training simulator for the Savannah Police Department. The system reportedly costs more than $80,000. The reality training simulator will provide trainees with de-escalation tactics while displaying the proper use of force.
