MERIDEN, CT — A Pulaski Elementary School fifth grader is one of seven finalists in the 2020-21 race for Connecticut's Kid Governor. Houda Jaouad is running on a platform of Body Shaming.
Fifth graders across the state are voting now through Nov. 10 to elect one of their peers to serve a year-long term as Kid Governor. The position is a national award-winning, statewide civics program created by The Connecticut Democracy Center at Connecticut's Old State House.The free program teaches fifth graders about state government, voting, and the importance of civic engagement through an authentic statewide election, according to a statement.
Each school is eligible to nominate one student to run for Connecticut's Kid Governor.This is the second consecutive year that a student from Stonington is a finalist in the program.
The seven Final Candidates in the Statewide Election for CTKG and their community issues are:
