Description
Waterfront Line Handlers at US Ecology provide support at oil terminals by performing ship line handling, small boat operations and booming operations for large oil tankers and barges.
Work periods are typically 1-2 hours at a time, up to 6-8 times per week, during daylight or night time hours.
Day in the Life:
-Working within a team of 2-4 people working large mooring lines along the oil terminal piers in all types of weather, and various times of the day/night.
-Gear up in your life jacket and other safety equipment
-Catches and throws heaving lines from ship
-Pulls mooring lines down the dock and secure to bollards and removes mooring lines from bollards.
-Performs other related duties as assigned. These are duties that may not be specifically listed in this description, but which are within the general nature typically associated with the employee’s level of work
-Be able to assist in small boat operations, booming around the ships once tied to the pier
-Great position for college students, retirees or individuals with flexible schedules
What you need to apply:
-Ability to pass a drug test, and be part of a year-round annual drug testing program (THC included)
-Have a cell phone
-Have a reliable form of transportation
-High School Diploma or GED equivalent preferred
-Valid driver’s license
-Ability to perform heavy lifting for very short periods of time in all weather conditions.
-Willingness to work some weekdays, weekends, and on-call hours whenever available.
-Ability to pass pre-employment background checks and drug screening
-Be physically able to wear personal protective equipment when necessary
*Boat handling/waterfront experience preferred*
