Description

MERIDEN, CT — For the third time this year, police have found a pipe bomb located in the water in the area of Red Bridge on Oregon Road. Meriden police reached out to the State Police Bomb Squad Unit, which is conducting a thorough search in the water in and around the areas where the previous pipe bombs were located. The most recent pipe bomb was discovered this weekend. Police said in a statement that bringing in the state's bomb squad unit is intended to "ensure that no further devices were submerged in the water or the surrounding areas as the safety of the public is our primary concern." "It should be noted that in all three prior instances where pipe bombs were discovered, all three devices were deemed to have been submerged in the water for a relatively long period of time," according to the statement.
