Basketballs 'found at park' / left there?

Did you or your children lose a basketball at the park? Sorry I do not know the specific park... could be any of the parks within twenty miles of tulsa. Okay, may be nothing, but an older couple while walking found unattended basketball at the park, more than once, and took them home. Now the husband is planning to donate them if he gets around to it someplace to be sold for a few dollars. I couldn't help but wonder if the balls were left on purpose at the park so whoever showed up could play. Or, if forgotten, whoever forgot would be back to play or to get the basketball back again. I don't think the old couple should have taken the balls, but also I don't know the whole story, or any more than this - they found the balls at the park while walking, and took them home. The basketballs might be available in the next month if the husband does get around to donating them.
