WESTFIELD, NJ — As Tropical Storm Zeta remnants continued to dump rain on northern New Jersey, the Westfield public schools announced they'll be closed Friday. In an unprecedented announcement referencing technology, the district wrote, "District internet service is down, due to the storm. Because students and staff will not have access to materials needed for instruction, all Westfield Public Schools will be closed today, Friday, Oct. 30." Westfield's high school went all-remote last week for two weeks. Accuweather predicted the rain would continue in the Westfield area until around noon on Friday. Stay away from any downed wires, and treat wires as live even if power appears to be out in the area. Read a prior story about the storm and Westfield here.
