Description

University Synagogue in Irvine is seeking an experienced Facilities Maintenance Technician, who would be responsible for performing routine building maintenance tasks, including but not limited to minor electrical, heating, ventilation, and air conditioning (HVAC), plumbing, painting, etc. Position also includes assisting with classroom and event set-up and outdoor maintenance of parking lot and property. This is a full-time, non-exempt hourly position, reporting to the Facilities Manager. Key Job Responsibilities: • Paint, remodel and refurbish indoor areas as needed • Repair, maintain and monitor all equipment • Change HVAC filters as required • Prepare classrooms, remove or rearrange furniture, as respond to maintenance requests from schoolteachers and administrative staff • Change light bulbs, interior and exterior • Maintain, repair and refurbish outdoor parking area and building exterior • Work with outside vendors for more complex tasks • Perform duties associated with events, including executing the set-up and break-down according to a pre-determined calendar of events • Respond to emergency maintenance situations as needed Education and Work Experience Requirements • High school education or equivalent • 3-5 years’ experience in facilities maintenance • Basic understanding of electrical, plumbing and carpentry • Maintain cooperative working relationship and interact effectively with staff and congregants • Demonstrated time management skills including multi-tasking • Must be able to work flexible hours, some overtime and weekends • Must be able to pass LIVE SCAN fingerprint background check Physical Requirements • Ability to push/lift up to 50 pounds • Ability to climb ladders • Bending at waist, sitting, kneeling, climbing, walking, crouching as job may require
