Crawford Land Management is a small but growing company specializing in ecological restoration and coastal stabilization projects on Cape Cod. The Landscape Technician / Laborer performs tasks involving physical labor to implement invasive species management, ecological restoration, and coastal stabilization projects. The position may operate a variety of hand and power tools and small equipment and may clean and prepare sites, dig trenches, install plants, and remove and dispose of vegetation. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS 1. Performs a variety of tasks involving strenuous manual labor in restoration and stabilization projects. 2. Removes approved trees, shrubs, vines and other vegetation from project sites. 3. Mixes and applies herbicides (with an applicators license) to approved vegetation. 4. Seed and plant plugs, shrubs and trees. 5. Operates vehicles and equipment, such as passenger vehicles, brush mowers, chain saws or skid steers. 6. Maintains a clean job site: picks up all tools and equipment and secures job site each day to eliminate potential hazards. 7. Loads and unloads trucks and hauls materials. 8. Maintains confidentiality and compliance with all safety rules, regulations and standards as well as all CLM policies and procedures. Brings problems to the attention of the Project Foreman. ELIGIBILITY QUALIFICATIONS 1. Must possess or be able to obtain a valid and appropriate state driver’s license prior to employment. 2. Must possess or be able to obtain a valid Pesticide Applicator’s License from the State of Massachusetts within three months of hire date. 3. Must possess or be able to obtain a Certificate in Invasive Plant Management from UMass Amherst within one year of hire date. 4. Must possess or be able to obtain a Massachusetts Hoisting and Hydraulics License. 5. Must be able to lift 50lbs. REQUIRED EDUCATION 1. High school education. PREFERRED (but not required) EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE 1. Associates or Bachelor's degree in Natural Resource Management or related field. 2. Plant identification knowledge. We are looking for full-time, year round employees as well as part-time and/or seasonal. Our 'busy season' is from October through April/May, weather depending. Salary listed is for full-time employees and is based on a 40-hour work week. Overtime is available. Job Type: Full-time Pay: $39,000 Plus per year
