4/20 Semler, New Here, Olivia Klugman @FREMONT ABBEY --------------------------------------------------- See COVID Safety Info at the bottom of this page under Abbey Arts Presents Thanks for helping keep our community safe! --------------------------------------------------- Semler: semlermusic.comSemler (aka Grace Baldridge, all pronouns) has been featured on NPR, The Washington Post, Apple Radio and more. Baldridge is an LA-based musician and content creator who’s first EP (Preacher's Kid) helped her become the first openly queer artist to hit Number 1 on the iTunes Christian music charts. Semler’s second EP Late Bloomer (OCT 2022) also topped the iTunes Christian music charts and amassed over 250k streams on Spotify (and double that on Apple Music- up 436%) in less than a week. In Late Bloomer Baldridge stitched together a six-song EP that found humor, hurt and healing at the intersection of queerness and faith…and clearly touched a nerve. Baldridge’s latest offering, Stage of a Breakdown explains this debacle in a stinging, simmering and no-skips 5-song EP. The record chronicles a 2-week saga that ensued after an old friend/lover got in touch upon discovering they were the subject of a Semler song Socials: Instagram, Twitter, Facebook New Here: newherepdx.bandcamp.comAptly described as “queer and sincere” by frontwoman and songwriter Mackenzie (Mac) Price, New Here brings an eclectic and eccentric urgency to the scene in Portland, OR. Originally written and performed acoustically in an “I just gotta get these ideas out there” fashion, Mac turns her set on its head by finally finding accompaniment with other wildly talented local musicians. The songs are achy cries of abandoning abusive systems and trying so hard to fall in love with life and the people in it. Socials: Instagram, TikTok, Youtube Olivia Klugman: oliviaklugman.comA key player in the new wave of contemporary folk singers, Olivia Klugman is an independent singer/songwriter with a rare vocal gift. Self-styled after genre icons like Joni Mitchell and Brandi Carlile, Olivia is known for their beautiful tone and vividly honest storytelling. Their sound is reminiscent of the Golden Age of American Folk Music, but with a uniquely modern lyrical sensibility. @ Fremont Abbey Arts Center7p doors, 7:30p showAll ages, some seating available, bar w/ID ABBEY ARTS EVENT INFO:Check tickets for show timeFremont Abbey is ADA accessible on either level. We have a mix of normal chairs, some tall chairs, and standing room in back.Seating is not reserved unless noted. Please refrain from talking or texting during the show.No video from the seating area please. Please limit photos during the show so as to not distract other attendees from the experience. We are an all ages venue.
