Arbors of Hop Brook, Manchester's only continuing care retirement community, announces the appointment of Anne M. Burns, CPA, MA, as controller effective September 14, 2020. "We are thrilled to have someone of Anne's experience and character join our organization," said Paul Liistro, managing partner of Arbors of Hop Brook and its two affiliated health care centers, Manchester Manor and Vernon Manor. "Anne's career spans more than 30 years of accounting experience and includes multiple roles in serving older adults through family caregiving, skilled nursing facilities and home health agencies. In addition, Anne is an active and committed volunteer in the community." Prior to joining Arbors of Hop Brook, Burns served The Rideshare Company for twelve years, attaining the positions of Chief Operating Officer and Chief Financial Officer, overseeing the accounting, financial reporting, and customer service areas. She served as the Chief Financial Officer of New Samaritan Corporation (NSC) and Elderly Housing Management, Inc. (EHM) for ten years. NSC has developed numerous senior housing complexes and owns/operates Mansfield Center for Nursing and Rehabilitation. EHM manages thousands of units of senior housing. During her tenure with these organizations, Burns successfully managed several financially beneficial projects. Burns is passionately committed to advocacy and service for older adults. She has served for nine years on the Board of CT Community Care, Inc., including as Board President. She has also served on the Boards of organizations providing domestic violence and shelter services. In addition, Burns has provided accounting leadership for home healthcare and economic development organizations. Burns is a licensed Connecticut CPA with a Bachelor's degree in Accounting from Central Connecticut State University and a Master's degree in Human Development/Gerontology from University of St. Joseph.
