The Environmental Justice Movement has deep roots in the history of Norfolk and would not be what it is today if it were not for the African-Americans who helped to shape it.
The NAACP - Norfolk Chapter, Environmental & Climate Justice Committee is building off of the momentum from the past and partnering with other leaders and organizations to advance environmental justice in the future.
Join us on Saturday, April 23rd at 10:30am as we highlight some of the most inspiring Black environmental justice efforts in our region today.
African Americans have been fighting for environmental justice for decades. From sparking the modern Environmental Justice Movement, to conducting key research on environmental pollution, our legacy is undeniable. We hope you will join us to honor local African American leaders in the Environmental and Climate Justice Movement.
