Description
What could be better than a night packed full of beers and learning to crank wrenches with a group of rad women? You’re not going to want to miss this 3-part Bike Mechanics 101 Series with Christina Booth from Commencal and The Elevated Alpine. April 7 Flat RepairsApril 14 BrakesApril 21 Derailleur Adjustments We’ll crack open a beer and follow along Christina as she teaches us the basics of bike mechanics. Working in pairs, you’ll get the chance to work on your bike while learning which tools and techniques are required for the job. Don’t be a jerry this year, and learn how to fix your own bike. Registration is required for each session and cost is per session. Participants are not required to take all three sessions. Optional Ride: An optional ride from a mechanics perspective will happen before each session, weather permitting. Pedaling from the Commencal parking lot, we will do a casual quick lap on one of Golden’s iconic local trails and learn how to watch for mechanical issues that may arise. Free Beer! We are proud to offer 805 Beer to participants 21+! 805 is a light, refreshing, ale brewed on the Central Coast made by a company Commencal believes in. Tool Recommendations: Tools will be provided throughout the entire series, but in order to get comfortable with wrenching on your own bike, feel free to bring your own tools to simulate a trailside fix. Feel free to bring these tools if that’s the case: Multitool with hex wrenches, phillip’s head, flat head, chain tool – here’s what Christina prefers to ride with (feel free to also bring these tools if not on a multitool)2 tire leversScholarship Opportunities The Elevated Alpine is committed to supporting women in the backcountry from culturally and racially diverse backgrounds.
