MANCHESTER, CT — Manchester police are using a strange traffic incident to illustrate the need to clean off windshields before driving this winter. Police depicted the stop in a New Year's Eve social media post. A spokesman for the department said a patrol officer noticed a sportscar with frozen slush completely covereing its windshield after last week's icy storm. He pulled the car over and was joined by another officer. "Yes ... a person actually drove like this, thinking they could see fine. In order to safely operate on roadways remember to clear your windows of any visual obstructions due to snow, ice or frost," police said in the social media post. The fine for an obstructed windshield is $92. The fine for uncleared vehicles — hoods, roofs, trunks — is $120.
