Our Story: Hi, my name is Jen, and I am fundraising for a group of remarkable students! We created a team in August 2021 with the idea to compete in Odyssey of the Mind. This creative thinking competition relies on a small budget to solve a big problem through creativity and ingenuity. Our team came together with seven students who wanted to strive for something crazy! We worked hard; we spent countless hours creating, building, dreaming, laughing ... and making mistakes! As our team headed to Regionals, we had low expectations with big aspirations! We competed against middle schoolers; our average age was nine years old. But guess what? We won Regionals! We headed to the state competition two weeks later, again not expecting much but dreaming large. We worked hard and left everything on that stage! We were proud to come in 4th place out of 6 in the NorCal State Tournament. The 4th place finish, however, meant we were done ... unless a top 3 team was unable to advance. As a coach, I thought we were done ... every day, my kids asked me if I had heard anything, was there a chance? Although I wanted to be realistic and honest with them, the possibility of us making it was small; yet the educator in me wanted them to dream! But, the unthinkable happened - we are advancing to the Odyssey of the Mind World Finals in May!! The most challenging part is getting our team there ... we are asking for help!
