Description
Goodwill builds pathways that help people pursue the life they want to achieve. Join the conversation and become a path builder today! As one of the original recyclers, the Goodwill movement began in the early 20th century with repairing and selling donated items. Today, we continue our commitment to sustainability by creating an ecosystem of accepting and selling gently used items, keeping millions of pounds of items out of landfills each year and supporting sustainability entrepreneurs. With the increase in fast fashion, rapid growth and development, and high need for convenience, we live a very disposable lifestyle that impacts people and our planet. Join us April 14 for Coffee and Conversation to discuss the importance of sustainability in our everyday lives and why it matters that we pay more attention to our daily habits that impact sustainability. WHAT IS COFFEE & CONVERSATION?Each 90-minute, bi-monthly session of the six-part series will engage attendees in thought-provoking discussions grouped in some of Charlotte’s key Diversity, Equity, & Inclusion topics to bridge the gap between the community and those who engage with Goodwill through programs, services and retail operations. With a capacity of 25 guests per session, attendees are grounded in community issues that create space for lively, highly engaged group discussion co-created and facilitated by community change catalysts, Kellen Nixon and Annetta Foard. Coffee & Conversation is a safe and trusting space for all to lean confidently into their lived experiences and cultural identities. April's event will be held in-person at the Goodwill Opportunity Campus at 5301 Wilkinson Boulevard. Session dates and topics:1. Feb 24: Building a Village 2. Apr 14: Sustainability 3.
