JOED's State of our Local Economy delivers relevant data to inform decisions made by business, community and elected leaders. Our Keynote Speaker Ryan Nance has served in economic development leadership roles since 2010 from local to state-level, including electric utility and non-profit organizations. He is experienced in business recruitment, foreign-direct investment, and product development aspects of the profession, with particular focus on rural prosperity. Ryan joined North Carolina’s Electric Cooperatives in 2019 – supporting the 26 local cooperatives that serve more than 2.5 million members across 93 counties. Preceding that role, he was Director of Business Development for EDPNC where he led efforts to proactively identify and cultivate new business prospects considering the state for new investment.
