Assemble Summer Boredom Buster art kits for Afghan evacuee children + create "Welcome to Tucson" kindness notes. WHAT TO EXPECT: Kid Volunteers will work together to write "Welcome to Tucson" kindness notes for Afghan evacuee children, who are currently being housed in local hotels due to the housing shortage in Tucson. Additionally, Kid Volunteers will assemble Summer Boredom Buster art kits to help Afghan evacuee children stay active + engaged throughout our hot summer months. WHY IS THIS WORK IMPORTANT: This hands-on volunteer work will benefit Owl & Panther. Owl & Panther serves refugee families impacted by torture, trauma + dislocation. Through a variety of expressive art forms (artmaking, dance, poetry, puppetry, journaling + photography), they help refugee families heal and find community. CAN YOU DONATE? Small craft glue sticks | Pipe cleaners | Pony beads | Colored pencils | Pencil sharpeners | Watercolor paint sets | Fine point markers KIND NOTES: Our volunteer event will take place in the courtyard of The Historic Y so please bring water, wear a hat and/or sunscreen.
