Description

Join ASU MSA to help package gifts for Afghani refugees and make Eid day a magical celebration for those struggling financially. Currently, Muslims all over the world are observing Ramadan. This means that from sunrise to sunset, every Muslim person who is well and able will abstain from food and drink. Ramadan lasts a full 30 days, and at the end of the month, there is a large celebration called Eid. Eid is like Christmas for Muslims - we distribute gifts, we meet with friends and family, and eat lots of good food. However, the Afghani refugees who have relocated here are facing a very different reality. Many of them have left their families back home, and most do not have the money for basic essentials, let alone gifts for their children. We wanted to do something special for them. So, MSA is partnering with Helping Hand for Relief and Development (HHRD) to pack gifts for these refugees to deliver to them on Eid day. We would love for your organization to join us! This "Fastathon" event will be held next Monday, April 18th, at ICC, the Islamic Community Center for Tempe. We will be gift-wrapping from 4:45 p.m. - 6:30 p.m., and breaking the fast together at sunset. We encourage all of you to fast with us for one day, and break the fast with us! We will be providing free dinner for anyone who attends the event. (However, fasting is not mandated on anyone - we'd love to have you regardless).
