WESTCHESTER COUNTY, NY — The ongoing bridge replacement project will once again mean Westchester County motorists will need to get used to a new traffic pattern for a couple of weeks. The New York State Department of Transportation (NYSDOT) is alerting drivers about possible delays for the next two weeks, starting Friday. The northbound and southbound left lanes of a section of the Hutchinson River Parkway in Westchester County will be closed on weekdays for construction work, as part of the ongoing bridge replacement and rehabilitation project at Exit 6, through the end of the month. The NYSDOT said the northbound and southbound left lanes of the Hutch are expected to close between Exit 5 (East Third St.) in Mount Vernon/Village of Pelham and Exit 7 (Hutchinson Blvd./Pelhamdale Ave.) in Mount Vernon/New Rochelle. The closures will start Friday, April 15 and continue on weekdays through Friday, April 29. The scheduled roadwork will take place between 10 p.m. and 5 a.m. on weekdays, weather permitting, according to the agency. The NYSDOT is reminding drivers to slow down and drive responsibly in work zones. Remember, fines are doubled for speeding in a work zone. Convictions of two or more speeding violations in a work zone could result in the suspension of your driver's license.
