Description

Fire House Tours at the Winter Park Fire Department #3950 The Winter Park Fire-Rescue Department is proud to announce the Superheroes Tour, a Sensory Friendly Fire Station Experience for children and families living with autism spectrum disorder BY APPOINTMENT ONLY. The Department is accustomed to hosting tours for children, but with lights, sirens and plenty of activity, they understand the experience could be overwhelming for those with super powers. We’ve identified a few accommodations to make this experience fun for everyone, and happy to host a few more if requested. Firefighters have teamed up with UCF CARD to offer three exclusive dates for CARD families in April. Tours will last thirty minutes and include the opportunity to touch a fire truck, explore fire gear and spray a fire hose. The tour will also include basic fire safety information. A designated quiet spot will be reserved for anyone that needs to take a break. We are happy to offer this experience to families in our community, but also acknowledge this is a wonderful way for us to get to know more residents in Winter Park and understand their needs. Once you register you will receive an email to confirm your time slot. Please DO NOT go to the fire station without an appointment time. It is an active fire station and a tour is not possible without an appointment! Families not able to tour on the designated days are welcome to contact Rachel Mattingly at the Department directly to coordinate by emailing [email protected] Tours will be offered on the hour, for 30-minute durations. Parking is available to the side of the public safety building which is located at 500 North Virginia Ave., Winter Park. Fire Station 61 is located within the public safety complex. Upon arrival, enter the building and make yourself comfortable in the lobby, your firefighter will come out to great you. All tours MUST be scheduled in advance. Families are welcome to call Rachel Mattingly at 407-599-3317 beforehand with questions or requests.
