MIDDLETON, MA — 13-year-old Andrea Salvaggio continues to fight for her life after she and her mother were stabbed by her father Paul Salvaggio less than a week ago; now the community is coming together to help aid her recovery. According to a GoFundMe organized by a family friend, Andrea sustained many physical and emotional injuries in the attack. Francine Falbo Carroll says it is currently unclear if Andrea will have full mobility in her legs, hands, and back due to the April 8 attack. "This recent heartbreaking event has shown Andrea's strength, bravery, and determination," Carroll said. "Her recovery will be lengthy and extremely difficult. Let's surround her with continuous love and support." On April 8, just after 6 a.m., Middleton police responded to a 911 call from Paul Salvaggio's 54-year-old wife inside their home on Stanley Road reporting a stabbing in progress. 13-year-old Andrea was taken to Beverly Hospital and transferred to Boston Children's Hospital where she remains in critical, but stable condition. Andrea's mother was stabbed in an effort to protect her daughter, Essex Assistant District Attorney Kate MacDougall said adding that she was taken to Beverly Hospital where she was treated and released. It's not clear what led to the stabbing, but the incident remains under investigation by the Middleton Police, Massachusetts State Police, and the Essex State Police Detective Unit. Paul Salvaggio is being held without bail pending a dangerousness hearing on April 15. For more information and to donate, click here.
