EAST ISLIP, NY — A 16-year-old boy was robbed and assaulted on a Sunrise Highway pedestrian bridge in East Islip Monday evening, police said.
The teen was walking on the bridge over Sunrise Highway near East Islip High School at about 6 p.m. when two males who he knows approached him, displayed what appeared to be a gun and demanded his property, police said.
He refused to give up his cellphone and then the robbers assaulted him.
A police report isn't clear if they stole the phone or if it was just an attempt, a police spokesperson told Patch. No arrests have been made at this point.
