Press release from the Fox Cities Chamber: April 12, 2022 The Family Radio Network's 2022 "Help for the Homeless" hygiene drive received a record-breaking $527,000 worth of donated hygiene and cleaning supplies this spring from more than 760 local businesses, churches and schools for 96 crisis agencies in 19 of their listening communities. The drive annually provides for approximately 70,000 people. Thank you! Since 1992, "Help for the Homeless" donations have provided more than $4.8 million dollars' worth of hygiene supplies to local Wisconsin crisis programs and those they serve. Donations remain in the communities where they are collected. The goal of "Help for the Homeless" is to supply a year's worth of products to each agency. "Janet, a single mom of 2, came to us in need of diapers for her newborn. Thanks to The Family Radio's Help for the Homeless we were able to provide diapers for baby and also deodorant, shampoo, body wash, toothpaste and new toothbrushes for her family. She was very grateful, saying that because we were able to give her the hygiene products, she would now be able to pay for her older son to go on his field trip." -Heather Clohessy, St. Vincent de Paul "The impact of The Family Radio's "Help for the Homeless" is indescribable. The products we receive go directly to our homeless students. It means so much to them, and to us, to know that they can ask someone at school for the things they might need – shampoo, feminine products, deodorant, etc. - and we can help. This would not be possible without the support of the community and the generosity of so many. Thank you!" – Kelsey Boge, School Social Worker "This drive saves us thousands of dollars every year and frees up those funds for programming, food, and other pressing expenses. Thank you!" – Lauri Lewis, Apricity "We serve some older single gentlemen, living on fixed incomes, who struggle to make ends meet and rarely leave their homes. When we give them body wash, shampoo, and deodorant through Help for the Homeless, they can go out in public without embarrassment. This program helps so many people! We are grateful for the generous donations from our community for this great cause." – Cindy Meulemans, The Salvation Army The Family Radio Network partners with area homeless coalitions and crisis programs by inviting the community to donate needed hygiene items for their local agencies through "Help for the Homeless." Supplying the crisis programs with laundry soap, hair and dental care items, deodorant, diapers, and other personal care and cleaning products makes it possible for them to dedicate their limited financial resources to providing qualified personnel, education, counseling, safe housing, and nutritious food to those they serve.
