Police Seize Narcotics, Handgun During Search In Norwalk: PD

NORWALK, CT — Officers seized crack cocaine and other narcotics following a search of a home and vehicle Wednesday at the Roodner Court Housing Complex in Norwalk, according to police. In a news release, Police Sgt. Sofia Gulino said the department's Special Services Division received numerous complaints from residents of the housing complex about continuous sales of illegal narcotics there, as well as the use of firearms connected to the sales. After a lengthy investigation, police obtained search warrants for a home and vehicle, as well as for Donald Flamer, 41, of Norwalk. During the search, police seized an undisclosed amount of crack cocaine, powder cocaine, heroin laced with fentanyl and MDMA, or ecstasy, as well as a substance used to cut into the narcotics in order to dilute it and increase profits, Gulino said. Police found 2.2 pounds of the latter substance in brick form and 55 grams in powder form. A handgun, a box of ammunition and approximately $3,174 cash were also seized by police, Gulino said. Officers also found narcotics paraphernalia, including 900 plastic apple baggies, four digital scales, five razor blades with narcotic residue and a blender with narcotic residue, Gulino said. According to Gulino, two young children were also exposed to dangerous activity. Flamer was charged with sale of narcotics, operation of a drug factory, possession of a controlled substance within 200 feet of a school or daycare, possession of a controlled substance with intent to sell within 200 feet of a school or daycare, possession of a controlled substance and risk of injury to a child. He was held on a $150,000 bond and is scheduled to appear in court later this month. "The Norwalk Police Department is grateful for the information that was received, leading to this arrest," Gulino said in a news release. "We will continue to investigate information that we receive in an effort to maintain the safety of our community."
