MILFORD- On Wednesday, April 13th, the Junior Woman's Club of Milford hosted the 36th Annual Citywide Spelling Bee for 5th and 6th graders at Milford City Hall. This year's Bee Master was Milford Public Library Director, Christine Angeli. Spelling Bee judges included Cindy Wolfe Boynton, writer and college professor, and Jennipher Israelite, teacher at Jonathan Law. The top three winners of the spelling bee are as follows: First Place: Janelle Dimaya- West Shore Middle SchoolSecond Place: Vasanth Jakka- St. Mary's SchoolThird Place: Mihika Dabhade- Meadowside Elementary School and Aarin Shah- Mathewson Elementary School. Additional participants included: Aaron Shi, Calf Pen Meadow Elementary; Gabriella Meda, JFK Elementary; Peighton Nash, East Shore Middle; Grace French, Harborside Middle; Malachi Warren, Live Oaks Elementary; Madison McAloon, Orange Ave Elementary; Vera Semanchik, Orchard Hills Elementary; Xaidenn Rodriguez, Pumpkin Delight Elementary; Cecilia Root, St. Mary School. The Junior Woman's Club of Milford is a 501c3 non-profit organization founded on the principles of promoting education, public health, philanthropy and service to the Milford community. Our programs include the Citywide Spelling Bee, Community Excellence Awards, Adopt-A-Spot, the Respect Campaign and much more. Our biggest fundraiser of the year is our Annual Touch-A-Truck held at Eisenhower Park in October.
